Assistant Accountant - Sheffield | Temporary to Permanent |Office based

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant to join this finance team based in Sheffield. This role is initially on a temporary basis with a view to becoming permanent. The role will offer career progression for someone to step up and manage a small finance team based in Sheffield.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director to support day‑to‑day accounting operations. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month‑end processes, and ensuring the smooth running of core finance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts
• Processing invoices, payments, and expense claims
• Maintaining accurate ledgers and supporting reconciliations
• Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory submissions
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
• Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders as required
• Providing general administrative and financial support to the wider team

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel and Sage
• 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, in the office.
• Free on site parking
